UW Men's Hockey team wins despite "major" injury

Junior captain Blake Geoffrion suffered a "major" injury on Friday night, according to Head Coach Mike Eaves.  Geoffion rolled on the ice in pain after having his left leg fold underneath him awkwardly as he slid behind the Alaska Anchorage goal following a check by Tyler Moir late in the second period. Both athletic trainer Andy Hrodey and team doctor Geoffrey Baer attended to him on the ice before he was helped to the locker room.

Eaves described it as a major injury.  He said it was doubtful that Geoffrion, the top-line center and leading goal scorer, would return for Saturday's series finale.

The Badger men still beat the Seawolves 3-2.
