One arrest in taxi robbery

Madison (WKOW) -- from Madison PD:  Saturday evening, a taxi driver pulled up to the McDonald's on the 3000 block of East Washington Street to pick up a fare.

Two men hopped in the cab and pulled weapons on her - a gun and a knife.

Both of the men threatened her and stole her wallet, money, and cellphone, then forced her to drive them to the nearby Amcore Bank, where they withdrew money using her ATM card.

A squad car drove by and spooked the robbers, who told the driver to drive off.

They ended up jumping out of the taxi near Hauk and Marquette Streets, and one suspect was seen getting on a Metro bus.

Police later boarded the bus and arrested 19-year-old Eldridge L. Taylor of Madison as a suspect.

The Madison Police say Eldridge fought with them, but they subdued Taylor and found the victim's cellphone, money, and a BB gun on him.

The other suspect has not been arrested.

Eldridge was charged with Party to a Crime Armed Robbery, Resisting a Police Officer, and a Probation Violation.
