Tuesday morning snowstorm - WKOW 27: Madison, WI Breaking News, Weather and Sports

Tuesday morning snowstorm

Madison (WKOW) -- A winter storm warning is in effect throughout the day today.

Snow will come down heavily at times in the morning, and then rapidly taper and end from west to east this afternoon.

The heaviest accumulations will be north & west, where as many as 9-12 inches will pile up.

In Madison, expect 7-8 inches, with a general 6-9 inches across Dane County and central sections.

Further south, amounts will be much lighter, with 3-6 inches expected.

The 5-6 inch amounts near Evansville and Edgerton and the 3 inch amount near Beloit and in much of Walworth County.

With fresh snow on the ground, lows tonight will bottom out well down into the single digits.

The rest of our week will be very quiet, with just a few flurries Wednesday night.

Temperatures will warm by this weekend and, in fact, rain is forecast for Sunday.
