Watertown man charged with producing child pornography
Madison (WKOW) -- from US Dept. of Justice: A federal grand jury in the Western District of Wisconsin, sitting in Madison, returned an indictment today for a Watertown man, charging him with producing child pornography.
Federal prosecutors say 33-year-old Kenneth R. Smith of Watertown used a minor make videos of sexual activity.
The indictment alleges that Smith produced the tape between April 2007 and July 4, 2007.
The indictment also charges Smith with possessing a VHS tape which showed a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
If convicted, Smith faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in federal prison.
The charges against him are the result of an investigation by the Dane County Sheriff's Department.
