MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- An independent watchdog group organized by the State Bar of Wisconsin will monitor the state Supreme Court race.
The so-called Judicial Campaign Integrity Committee was created for last spring's election, in which Judge Michael Gableman defeated Justice Louis Butler.
Tom Basting Sr. says the State Bar will reconstitute the group for the current race between Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson and Jefferson County Circuit Judge Randy Koschnick.
The election is April 7.
Basting says the group will weigh in when the candidates, their campaigns or others make false statements or impugn the reputation of the candidates or the court.
Basting says both candidates will be asked to sign a clean campaign pledge.
The makeup of the group hasn't been set.
