One arrested after hate crime at Tilted Kilt

Madison (WKOW) -- from Madison PD:  Sunday afternoon, one customer at the Tilted Kilt at 4325 Lien Road threatened to kill another customer.

Witnesses told the Madison Police that 30-year-old Justin J. Renard of Cottage Grove used racial slurs and said he'd get his gun and kill a man he thought moved his coat.

The Madison police say the victim tried to pacify Renard by buying him a drink, but that didn't work.

Tilted Kilt management tried to kick Renard out, but he threatened to unload his gun on the whole restaurant.

Police eventually arrived on the scene, and they say Renard tried to fight them off when they tried to arrest him.

Renard was arrested and tentatively charged with Attempted Battery to a Police Officer, Resisting, four counts of Disorderly Conduct, Disorderly Conduct Hate Crime, and Trespassing.
