Governor Doyle approves $80,000 project at Iowa County Airport
Madison (WKOW) -- from WI Dept. of Transportation: Governor Jim Doyle has approved an $80,000 project for an airport obstruction survey at the Iowa County Airport.
The Governor's action releases $64,000 in state funds for the project and Iowa County is contributing the remaining $16,000.
According to Andy Trimble, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will provide the necessary survey information to provide safe and accurate GPS based instrument approaches to the airport runways.
The project is scheduled to begin in spring of 2009 and should be completed by early summer.
The Iowa County Airport is located three miles northwest of the city of Mineral Point.
The airport encompasses 309 acres and consists of two runways, connecting taxiways, aprons, entrance road, parking lot and terminal building.
