Former state official killed in car wreck

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A former deputy attorney general and secretary of the state Department of Revenue has died in a car accident in northern Wisconsin.

The Price County Sheriff's Department says 67-year-old Mark Musolf was killed Tuesday when the car he was driving hit another vehicle on State Highway 13 five miles north of Phillips.

His wife, Jocelyn Jacobs, and the driver of the other car were hospitalized.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Musolf served as Revenue Secretary under former Gov. Lee Sherman Dreyfus from 1979 to 1983 and was a deputy attorney general under Attorney General Donald Hanaway in the 1980s.

Current Deputy Attorney General Ray Taffora says Musolf was a gifted public servant who had an unflappable demeanor.
