Janesville man gets 30 months for illegally re-entering the U.S.
Madison (WKOW) -- from US Dept. of Justice: 37-year old Javier Armas-Calvillo of Janesville was sentenced Thursday to 30 months in prison for reentering the United States after having been deported.
Armas-Calvillo pleaded guilty to this charge on September 12, 2008.
Judge Crabb found that Armas-Calvillo earned a heavier sentence because he showed a blatant disregard for the laws of the United States, since he has been deported before and has returned to the United States and continued to commit crimes.
The charge against Armas-Carillo was the result of an investigation conducted by the Janesville Police Department, the Rock County Sheriff's Department, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The prosecution of the case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Altman.
