MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A morning snowstorm in southern Wisconsin has put the damper on last-minute shopping.
East Towne Mall in Madison was eerily quiet Wednesday morning except for a handful of mall walkers.
Merchants stood around in their stores waiting for shoppers to show up.
But 45-year-old Deanna Grahn of Madison says the winter weather didn't stop her.
She says snow should never be a factor in Wisconsin.
The Department of Revenue agent says she found a couple of good bargains at JC Penney, including a Wii-like Sports Challenge video game marked down from $80 to $50.
She also bought a toy car that runs on water, called the Hydrocar, which had been discounted from $120 to $40.
Grahn says she's been trying to spend less this year in the economic downturn.
