Wis. man charged with stealing couple's car, gifts
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A 24-year-old homeless man has been charged with theft after allegedly stealing an elderly couple's car filled with Christmas gifts.
Oran F. Woodfin of Madison was charged Friday with two counts of driving a stolen vehicle, one count of driving after revocation and two counts of misdemeanor theft.
Prosecutors say the elderly couple had just finished shopping at Target on Dec. 10. The 90-year-old man left the car running as he went to help his 88-year-old wife, when Woodfin allegedly jumped in and drove off.
Police say they tracked him down after he pawned some of the items in Janesville.
Woodfin was jailed Friday on $4,500 bail. Online court records didn't list a defense attorney Saturday.
The car has been returned to the couple.
