MADISON (WKOW) -- Michael Stanek is back home, taking all that he has learned in his travels, and hopefully leading some talented young performers down their own road to stardom. Michael Stanek is someone you should know.
His resume includes on- and off-the-stage work at Walt Disney, New York City, and in Europe.
Now, his work takes him back home to Wisconsin and a dance studio in Madison.
Stanek jointly started an organization called Broadway Kidz Wisconzin. "This is where I belong," said Stanek. "When I was performing, I loved it. It was great for me. But all that experience is what I use for being behind the scenes."
Michael leads nearly 50 aspiring performers as they prepare for their January show of Disney's 'High School Musical.' The group had their first public performance together recently at Hilldale Mall.
The group is made up of students from all across the area... Madison, Baraboo, Oconomowoc, Janesville, Portage. "If they really have a passion which is what they have to have, the love for it, the passion, then they gotta do it. Because if they don't, they'll regret it."
"Normally you have to go to New York or California to get something like Michael, but yeah, it's cool to have him here in Madison to work with," said participant Jed Strobel.
"He's been on Broadway, so to get to work with someone who's been there on the golden way like it's really awesome 'cause you can pick up so many things," agrees Amanda Rodriguez.
Michael Stanek hopes to take the kids' enthusiasm and do more than just entertain, but to also give back to the community.
He hopes to have his students perform for charities starting next year.
