MADISON (WKOW) -- Fred Kuykendall bought a digital converter box in July, but he waited until January to hook it up.
That's when he discovered it didn't work.
"All of a sudden, I heard a crack. I was laying in bed, and there was no picture," he said.
Kuykendall says he tried connecting the box to his other TVs, but it still wouldn't work. So he called Magnavox.
"I was very disgusted about the situation," he said, after learning Magnavox wouldn't replace the box because 90 days had passed. "I feel they should cover it more than 90 days."
The 27 News Troubleshooter contacted Magnavox's parent company, Phillips. A Phillips spokeswoman immediately apologized and offered the customer a brand new box.
"That's not the way we like to treat customers," said the Phillips spokeswoman.
She says she believes the box should've been covered under a one-year warranty.
Kuykendall's new box will be on the way shortly via express mail.
