A local all-star cheerleading team will compete in the US Finals in Virginia Beach.
The Madtown Twisters junior squad earned a berth in the finals by finishing second in a qualifying competition in December.
This is the first time any squad from the gym has qualified for US Finals.
The team, which is composed of girls ages 9 to 14, doubled in size from 5 to 10 last year.
Those team members come from all over the area, with girls attending 6 different schools.
And for the girls on the team from its inception, this is something they never dreamed possible.
"When I started, no. But I had confidence we could and now that I've gotten into it I think I can," 13-year old Brianna Okeson says.
"I was so excited. I never thought I'd make it to us finals cause we never had the skills that we do now, but as the year's gone on we've made more skills," 14-year old Reed Nicks says.
The finals will be held in may in Virginia Beach.
The Twisters will compete against more than 500 other teams.
The team still needs to raise $500 for each of the ten girls to make the trip.
