MADISON (WKOW) -- UW athletics officials have dismissed junior Mariah Dunham from the women's basketball team for violating team rules.
Coach Lisa Stone issued a statement Wednesday afternoon saying "This was a very tough decision to make but, in the best interests of the program, we felt that it was time for Mariah to leave the team ... We wish her the best in her future endeavors."
According to the athletic department, Dunham was suspended indefinitely by the coaching staff prior to the Badgers' game last Sunday at Michigan, for an "off-the-court incident."
Dunham's dismissal is effective immediately.
Dunham, a 6-1 forward from Watertown, started 13 games this season, and was the second-leading scorer on the team, averaging 9.2 points per game.
