A big employer in the Appleton area is cutting jobs. Miller Electric Manufacturing announced Friday that 165 workers will lose their jobs because of the bad economy.
That's about 12 percent of its work force of 1,400 in the Appleton area. The company makes arc welding and plasma cutting equipment. It says the 165 cuts are needed because of weak global economic conditions and a decline in demand for its products.
