MADISON (WKOW) -- State Senator Alan Lasee (R-De Pere) says he will introduce a bill banning text messaging while driving. It's Lasee's second try to get the bill passed. Last session it passed in the State Senate but failed in the State Assembly.
If the bill becomes law a first offense could mean a $400 dollar fine. A second offense carries an $800 dollar fine.
Currently eight states ban text messaging while driving, while another nine ban it for teenagers.
Tonight 27 News Reporter Brian Rodriguez will speak with the State Patrol about the dangers of texting while driving. Is it worse than drunk driving? How often do they see drivers here in Wisconsin doing it?
Find out tonight on 27 News at 10pm.
