UPDATE (WKOW) -- Madison police say protesters peacefully gathered on the Capitol Square at the top of State Street Thursday night.

Police say the crowd dispersed around three early Friday morning and no arrests were made.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Late Thursday night, protesters marched around the Capitol Square and took their demonstration down several blocks of East Washington Avenue and onto residential streets on the near east side.

People at the front of the crowd led marchers in chants of "No Justice, No Peace" and "Black Lives Matter."

Police officers kept drivers from going onto East Washington Ave. as the protest moved onto the roadway.

After walking down the neighborhood streets, the demonstrators made it back onto East Washington Avenue, then headed to the Capitol Square and ended up on the State Street steps.

This is the sixth night of demonstrations in downtown Madison.
