Tony Galli’s reporting over the past two and a half decades in Wisconsin has given viewers and readers exclusive insight into the major stories of the day.
“Far and away, Tony Galli is the best investigative journalist in town,” Isthmus’ media critic wrote in 2008. “He is the only local TV reporter who strikes fear in the hearts of government officials.”
“Galli has a long list of credits as far as breaking stories,” wrote the Capital Times. Those breaking stories include state government’s inadvertent, public release of social security numbers; a school district’s failure to report a teacher’s suspicious conduct to state officials and a local hospital’s million dollar settlement over a patient death due to drug error.
One of Tony’s most gratifying assignments has been as emcee of WKOW’s local broadcasts during the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon. Donations made during the broadcast support local medical research, purchase wheelchairs and other adaptive, patient equipment, and send Wisconsin children to summer camp in Kenosha County, where Tony has spent time as a camp counselor.
Tony’s wife, Kelly, is a former member of the Dane County board of supervisors. His son, John, is a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee graduate. Kelly’s a native Wisconsite, and Tony came here too long ago for him to remember by way of New York and California. Tony received his degree in political science from San Diego State University.
