Local nonprofit donates hands on learning kits to Bronx students

MADISON (WKOW) -- COVID-19 has impacted learning everywhere.

Local non-profit education organization STEM 101 has partnered with NYC-based Arete Education to help 250 students and their families at home with hands on learning in the Bronx.

"Yeah, they're going to make an old fashioned operation game and have a little fun with it," said STEM 101 President Dr. Al Gomez. "But they're going to learn about electric buzzers, they're gonna learn about how to strip wire, how to use wire nuts and end up with a project."

The kits were shipped out Tuesday and are expected to get to students in a matter of days.

Dr. Gomez says this is one of many projects to come. STEM 101 plans to send out new projects to students every two weeks.
