Janesville police release 2020 crime statistics

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- The Janesville Police Department held a virtual conference Tuesday to report their 2020 crime statistics.

The department reported the community crime rate hit a 35 year low in 2020.

Police noticed while state and national crime rates are dropping, Janesville's is dropping even faster.

Chief David Moore did acknowledge four people died in the first three months of 2020 due to homicide. This is abnormally high for Janesville, since they usually see up to two deaths due to homicide in a year.
