MADISON (WKOW) -- A new court filing obtained by 27 News shows a man who authorities say robbed two banks after escaping from a jail program was also involved in a disturbance at University Hospital.
Rondino Fleming left the work release jail facility in Dane County on November 23. While on the run, UW-Madison Police say he punched and dragged the mother of his child at University Hospital on December 7. Charges from that incident include battery, attempted sexual assault and second degree recklessly endangering safety.
Fleming is also a suspect in a pair of robberies of financial institutions -- one in Fitchburg on December 9 and one in Madison on December 11.
He was arrested by Madison Police Department SWAT team members on December 13.
"He left a work release program, didn't come back and then proceeded to commit a volley of crimes," said Joel DeSpain, Madison Police Spokesperson. "Some of them very violent and in our case, a robbery that left a lot of people at the Dane County Credit Union very traumatized."
Madison Police worked with UW-Madison and Fitchburg Police as well as the Dane County Sheriff's Office to find probable cause to charge Fleming in each of the incidents.
