UPDATE (WKOW) -- The City of Madison Police Department held a press conference Sunday afternoon regarding the homicide of a 17-year-old who was shot near Camp Randall Saturday night.

Assistant Chief Paige Valenta said in the conference, a party was going on at the 10 block of Lathrop Street when shots were fired from a vehicle driving past.

Police don't know of any other injuries from the shooting at this time, but a car and possibly a building were hit.

According to the department, the 17-year-old attended a Madison high school and was at the party on Lathrop Street.

MPD is working with MMSD since the victim was a student and will have an impact on others.

Law enforcement was investigating the original shots fired call when the 17-year-old showed up at the hospital and police and hospital staff attempted to save the victim, but they died.

The City of Madison Police Department don't have any suspect information and are asking for those who attending the party, especially those who have any video while there or have information about the incident to call them.


UPDATE (WKOW) -- A teen shot near Camp Randall in Madison overnight has died.

Officers reported finding multiple shell casings near the stadium around midnight and later learned the 17-year-old had gone to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries. Although officials performed life-saving measures on the victim, they died.

Witnesses said about 100 people were in the area at the time of the shooting.

So far, police have not released any suspect information.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police say they found shell casings off Regent Street near Camp Randall after multiple reports of shots fired.

Police say they got to the 10 block of Lathrop Street just before midnight Saturday and found the casings. Later, an injured person showed up at a Madison hospital.

Officers continue to investigate the circumstances.
