Field narrowed for race to be Rock County’s next sheriff


JANESVILLE (WKOW) — The race to be the next sheriff of Rock County is now set.

Troy Knudson defeated Gary Groelle in the Democratic primary, according to unofficial results.

Knudson will face Republican Jude Maurer in the November election. Maurer did not have a primary opponent.

Both Knudson and Maurer work within the Rock County Sheriff’s Office. Knudson is a commander. Maurer is a captain.

The winner of the November race will replace retiring sheriff Robert Spoden.
