Men’s college hockey: #11 Wisconsin knocks off #2 Minnesota 4-1

The No. 11 Wisconsin men's hockey team opened their weekend in the Border Battle with a 4-1 win over No. 2 Minnesota in Minneapolis Friday night.

Sophomore Cole Caufield scored two goals, giving him a nation’s-best 16 goals on the season. Caufield scored the eventual game winning goal with 7 minutes remaining in the third period.

He also extended is point streak to 11 games (12 goals, 20 assists) and his goal streak to six games.

Sophomore Dylan Holloway extended his point streak to seven games. Holloway scored a goal late in the third period giving Wisconsin a 3-1 lead.

Both Caufield and Holloway have six consecutive multi-point games.

With the win, the Badgers are two points behind the Gophers in the Big Ten standings. First place on the line tomorrow night in game two of the series.

Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
