'I just want them to be found': Chandler Halderson's former girlfriend testifies

Former Girlfriend Testifies

MADISON (WKOW) — Chandler Halderson's former girlfriend, Cathryn Mellender, took the stand Thursday afternoon. 

Halderson is charged in the death's of his parents, Bart and Krista Halderson after he initially reported them as missing in July 2021. 

In her emotional testimony, Mellender said she cooperated with police throughout the investigation and gave authorities access to anything they wanted to see. 

"I just believed his parents were missing," Mellender said when asked why she thought it was important to cooperate. "And I just want them to be found." 

Most of her hours-long testimony was supplemented with screenshots of text and Snapchat messages between her and Halderson over the course of several days.

Some of the messages subjects include: his planned move to Florida for an alleged job at Space X and looking at houses, his health after a head injury that allegedly caused problems with his legs, being grounded and Halderson's and Mellender's fourth of July weekend plans.
